INTRODUCTION :  These machines are used for diamond core drilling to secure core samples of rock, bituminous material and soil which are too hard to sample by soil sampling method.  This equipment help us to obtain  core specimens of superior quality that reflects the insitu condition of the material and structure which are suitable for standard physical properties test and structural integrity determination.

'HT' Drilling Machines are used for coring of slabs, blocks and cores from hard rock, concrete and bituminous or asphalt material for preparation of laboratory samples and when formation are encountered that are too hard to be sampled by soil sampling method.  'HT' drilling machines are very sturdy, better in finish, easy for operation, in maintenance and vibration free.  This machines are provide with wheel for easy mobility.

Models available are motor driven, engine driven (diesel or petrol and petrol-cum-kerosene)

'HT' 2760 Drilling Machine with 2 HP motor for 2" x 2" cutting specimen complete with coolant pump (for motor driven model) with water tank and pipe.

Core Bits are manufactured to international standards viz. DCDMA, CDA, Swedish and they are also made to meet the users special requirements.  Every Bit is designed to give maximum efficiency.  Diamond protrusion in a bit is determined by the size of diamond used.  Layer diamonds are given more pronounced protusion and smaller diamonds lesser protusion.  Uniform diamond protrusion in a bit ensured its longer life.  Signaler waterways bits are used to make it more robust.  Drill bits of special grade can also be used for drilling concrete with reinforced steel.  The wall thickness is minimized to ensure fast penetration rate.

CORE LIFTERS :  Core lifters of the split ring type either plain or hard faced can be used  along with core lifter case or inner tube extensions or inner tube shoe. Basket or finger type lifters to gather  with necessary adopter can be used with each core barrel.

PROCEDURE :

'HT' Drilling Machine are capable of providing rotation; feed and retraction by mechanical means to the drill rod. The initial vertical adjustment of the barrel tip can be done with the help of handle on the left side of machine. Seat the casing  on bedrock or in a firm formation to prevent reveling of the bore hole and to prevent loss of drilling liquid, level the surface of the rock or  hard formation at the bottom of casing when necessary.  Main feed will also be given by handle fixed  in left side of  the machine which is connected with main drive gear box.  Angle of cutting is adjustable from  0-360 degree by opening two bolts attached with gear box (motor driven).  Water feeding is given by coolant pump (for motor driven model) placed in the water tank.  Place two nos. of 25 kg in front side and two nos. weight in rear side to balance the load and vibration free operation of cutting with core cutting machine.  Loosen the belt of engine by loosening bolt nut of a plate in which rests.  There will be very less initial load on engine and engine can start easily.  In case of motor driven model  there is no need to loosen the belt.  Towing facility is provided in front of machine .  Four nos. bolt and nut are provided to level the machine on any type of surface.  Start the engine as per instruction provided with the engine and begin the core drilling using Ex., Bx, Nx, or any size bit approved by the engineer.

RESULT :   Take out the specimen from the barrel either by hand or by pressing the specimen from below the barrel.  Surface of the specimen should be smooth before testing in compression testing machine.


PRECAUTIONS :


Ø Keep other person away from the engine.  Rotate the handle slowly and slowly so that there should not be any load on the machine.  Stop the machine if you found any hard material which cannot be cut and there is too much load on machine.

Ø Proper leveling of the machine is must before operation.

Ø Air in both try should be proper before operation.



MAINTENANCE :


1.     Always keep the machine dry, clean and free from dust.

2.     Oil the main pillar before operation.

3.     Dip diamond impregnated core bit in nitric acid solution for three seconds to regain original position.

4.     Maintain engine as per operating manual of engine.

5.     Water tank should be kept clean and dry.
